Sand Casting
In our greensand foundry we can mold either low or high volume jobs
Sand casting is a process where a mixture of sand, clay, and water is compacted to form each mold half. The term "greensand" means that the sand binder is not activated by heating or chemical reactions.
PPF’s sand-cast molds are appropriate to satisfy any of the following applications:
- Simpler wood patterns, aluminum match plates and core boxes
- Shorter tooling lead times
- Smaller production runs
- Dimensional repeatability:
- smaller castings +/- 0.030"
- larger castings +/-0.060"
No-Bake (Airset) sand casting is used for producing large castings up to 64" x 64" x 18" in size and upward from 55 lbs.
